Design workshop with startups
Gari is a startup that offers a collective solution to help people find parking spots in the city of Paris.
During Design workshops that DIMI’s master organize every year, two students’ colleagues and I worked with Gari for 3 days to define its concept and develop its communication.
Gari believed that their concept wasn’t that easy to understand. They were convinced that their ideas were strong, but they needed another way to communicate them.
To help users understand the idea behind the application, Gari wanted to introduce the app and it concept once we open it.
To start communicating Gari’s solution, we were requested to design the web landing page for the new mobile application.
To deliver in time, we tried to give each day of the workshop a goal. We made our workshop a co-design sprint with our client Gari.
The first step in this sprint was to understand Gari’s concept and how the application works. After going through Gari’s files and talking with the crew, we started drafting user scenarios for each usage. Gari is a “give to get” application.
After understanding the main concept of the application, we started thinking about how to communicate the concept, and how to make it easily understandable for users.
We know that most of the people try to skip those first presentations of a mobile application. That’s why we challenged ourselves to make it simple, brief and understandable.
Since showcase websites are made to present content and explain it values, this task was easier with all the work done with the tutorial.
We dedicated the third day to design our ideas and present it to the jury.
Gari’s crew were very happy with our work. They were ready to implement all our design and ideas.
Right after the workshop, Gari Offred me to code the designed showcase website as a freelance project. After delivering this project successfully, I maintained my contact with the startup and worked with them in other several projects.
